There is an increasing number of cars with turbocharged or supercharged
engines - the Mk5 Golf GT even has both!. Standard intercoolers tend
to be quite small and inefficient - usually located at the side of
the front bumper. The limitations of the standard cooling become more
apparent when trying to increase the engine performance.
One of the most effective solutions is to fit a Front Mounted Inter
Cooler (FMIC). As the name suggests these are located in the centre
of the front bumper, aligning with existing grill apetures. This usually
allows a larger intercooler to be installed and also gains a much
higher airflow which results in a greatly improved cooling effect
- typically 20 - 30°C lower inlet temps.
Benefits include:
• Cooler air improves engine
performance and response
• Prolongs the life of the turbocharger
or supercharger
• Can help enhance other engine
modifications
As with all our performance enhancing modifications, we can confirm
