2.0 TFSi Engine

Star Performance are constantly on the lookout for the best products on the market. One of the most competitive areas is in the software used for engine remapping. Most tuners offer this service but there is a vast difference in the quality of the software and the possible effects it can have on engine copmponent life.

There is another issue where a lot of tuners have software which can be removed from the ECU to try and make it undetectable. However the ECU has a flash counter which increments each time a program is flashed to the ECU - the performance program may have been removed but the counter will show that the software has been changed - this can affect warranty claims.

For the 2.0 TFSi engine, Star Performance uses GIAC software. GIAC have a proven track record for reliability, drivability and performance in the USA.
GIAC are known for creating "factory smooth" performance software with exceptional power and reliability. GIAC software replaces the standard software in your car’s engine control unit. It is programmed to adjust ignition timing, fuel delivery, fuel metering, boost settings, rev limiters, and/or speed limiters to optimize performance and, in some applications, fuel economy. Performance-tuned programs are designed to dramatically increase torque and power without sacrificing smooth drivability. Many programs are also created to accommodate numerous after market performance modifications.

Hand Held Flash Loader The Hand Held Flash Loader is a pocket-sized, software switching device. It works like a stand-alone PC plugging directly into the serial port of the engine control unit. It communicates with the engine computer via proprietary GIAC bidirectional language.
The device uses serial flashing technology for switching and no additional hardware within the ECU.
